Seahawks land 80 on Spring All-CCC Academic Team

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Salve Regina University placed 80 student-athletes on the Commonwealth Coast Conference Spring Academic All-CCC Team, second-most in the conference, including junior Kerri Beland (No. Attleboro, Mass.) who represented the Seahawks on two sports (women's basketball and women's lacrosse).

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Salve Regina University sophomore Olivia Owen (Weymouth, Mass.) earned All-New England status with her seventh-place finish in the 10,000-meter run at the New England Championships hosted by MIT.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) announced its first-ever Women's Track and Field major award winners on Wednesday afternoon. This is the first year major awards have been given out in the sport as it was elevated to championship status in 2018.

The first-ever McAuley Cup was given in honor of Catherine McAuley, founder of the Sisters of Mercy - who founded Salve Regina, to the 2017-18 Salve Regina men's ice hockey team.

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University director of athletics Jody Mooradian bestowed dozens of awards to student-athletes and staff on Friday evening, including the department's female and male athletes of the year - senior Amber Cody (Pawling, N.Y.) of field hockey, and junior Blake Wojtala (Trenton, Mich.) of men's ice hockey.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has selected Salve Regina University's 4x100 relay team as its team of the week for women's track and field.

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. - Salve Regina University women's track and field team captured second place at the inaugural Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship on Saturday with three Seahawks winning individual events and two relay teams coming in first.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Six Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's track and field teams will compete for the first-ever CCC Women's Track and Field Championship on Saturday, April 28, at Portsmouth High School in Portsmouth, R.I. Field events are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. with track events set to go off around 11:30 a.m.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has selected Salve Regina University's 4x100 relay team as its team of the week for women's track and field.

Natalie Kopiec and her teammates donned teal socks to "Teal the Field" for promoting awareness of preventing sexual violence. The Seahawks had several first-place finishes at the Elmer Swanson Invitational including three involving Kopiec who also qualified for the New England Championships in the 400 meter race.

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - Madison Yurgaitis (Somers, Conn.), Natalie Kopiec (Manchester, Conn.), Katherine Simoniello (Killingworth, Conn.) each took home first place honors while Kopiec joined three Seahawk teammates in winning the 4x100 meter relay race for Salve Regina University women's track and field at the Elmer Swanson Invitational hosted by Wesleyan University.

BOSTON, Mass. – The wicked weather was one of the leading story lines for the 122nd running of the Boston Marathon. Temperatures near 40 degrees, steady rain and stiff headwinds made the 26.2-mile trek from Hopkinton to Boston even more of a challenge for the 26,948 runners who toed the starting line on Monday morning.
