Demeo shatters school record at Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - Sophomore Alex Demeo (Burlington, Mass.) broke the Salve Regina University women's track and field record for 10,000m on Saturday, and qualified for the Division III New England Regional Championship with a time of 39:08.60. The previous record was 40:02.7, set by Shannon Holden in 2016.

Senior Victoria Varone (Providence, R.I.) also qualified for the postseason at 10,000m with a personal-best time of 39:21.20.

Demeo and Varone finished fifth and eighth, respectively, in a competitive 10,000m field at the Bridgewater Bears Invitational at Bridgewater, Mass.
