USTFCCCA honors Seahawks for third time

NEWPORT, R.I. - The Salve Regina women's track and field team was named an all-academic team for the 2013-2014 academic year, the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association announced today. The Seahawks have been recognized for three straight years.

To qualify for all-academic status, the cumulative team grade point average must equal or exceed 3.10. The 33 members of the 2014 squad achieved a 3.21 team grade point average, with 26 achieving an individual grade point average or 3.0 or better, and 13 recording 3.3 or greater.

Earlier this year the Commonwealth Coast Conference named eight Seahawks tracksters to the All-Conference Academic Team.

"It is very rewarding to have our team and so many of our individuals recognized for their academic achievements," remarked head coach Matt Hird. "They represent the fundamental philosophy of Division III, and what makes coaching them so much fun and so productive, they are outstanding representatives of our sport and Salve Regina University."
