NEWPORT, R.I. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has selected Salve Regina University freshman Lauren Harvey (Edmond, Okla.) as its first Player of the Week for women's tennis (August 24 - September 2).

After a three-day trip from Oklahoma brought her to campus on the last Monday in August, Harvey started her career with an 8-1 doubles victory at University of Saint Joseph in Hartford, Conn., paired at the top spot with classmate Makenzie Sadler (Mystic, Conn.).

Harvey then won in straight sets at first singles as she and Sadler contributed to three victories at the top spots.

Salve Regina (1-0) swept all nine matches in its season opener. The Seahawks return to the hard courts next Monday, Sept. 10, in Providence, R.I., to take on Rhode Island College.
