NEWPORT, R.I. – The Salve Regina University women's tennis team is picked to finish sixth according to a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) pre-season coaches' poll.

Salve Regina (4-12 overall, 3-5 CCC) finished sixth in regular season a year ago to earn a postseason berth for every season (16) since the conference went from a flighted tournament to a dual match team event.

Experienced veterans Taylor Amendola (Westbrook, Conn.), Courtney Bailey (North Dartmouth, Mass.), and Emma Gruber (New Canaan, Conn.) will welcome first-year head coach Peter Torgrimson. Torgrimson's background includes success as a player in high school and college and plenty of teaching experience as a USPTA certified tennis professional. He was the state high school singles champion in Minnesota in 2002. Torgrimson first played collegiately from 2002-2003 at Assumption College in Worcester, Mass. He returned to his home state to play on the Division I level as a Golden Gopher for the University of Minnesota from 2004-07.

He'll also welcome several newcomers to the Seahawks including Shealyn FitzPatrick (South Windsor, Conn.) and Priscilla Gaspard (Brockton, Mass.). Salve Regina's women's tennis traditions include hosting a doubles tournament on the historic grass courts of the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
