WENHAM, Mass. - Gordon women's tennis advanced to the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) semifinals with an 8-1 win over Salve Regina on Tuesday evening. The Fighting Scots took two of three doubles matches and swept the singles lineup to setup a matchup with top-seeded Endicott on Thursday in Beverly.

The Fighting Scots took the first point of the match at first doubles when Tawnie Yeaw (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) and Sophie Linnell (Richmond, Va.) won 8-2 over Emma Gruber (New Canaan, Conn.) and Hayley Maxwell (Pound Ridge, N.Y.). Yeaw and Linnell were named All-CCC Second-Team Doubles early on Tuesday. Gordon took a 2-0 lead just a few moments later with an 8-4 win at third doubles. Alexa DiDomizio (Mahwah, N.J.) and Nathalia Moran (Lake Villa, Ill.) fell behind early but rattled off seven of the final nine games to take the match.

Salve Regina got a point back at second doubles with a come-from-behind effort by Elizabeth DiFilippo (No. Dartmouth, Mass.) and Meg Olson (Colchester, Vt.). The Seahawks duo trailed 6-5 late in the match, but managed to win the final three games for an 8-6 victory.

Linnell brought Gordon closer to victory with a 6-0, 6-1 win over DiFilippo at second singles. DiDimozio wasn't far behind with a straight-set win over Salve captain Olson at sixth singles, 6-2, 6-2.

The tide of the match official turned in the matter of 10 seconds, when three matches all ended in Gordon's favor. Lily Drescher (Reading, Mass.) and Abby Caron (Bedford, N.H.) finished off their opponents within a split second of each other at the third and fourth flights to clinch the match. Just following the match-ending handshakes, Moran pulled out a straight-set victory in a tiebreaker, 6-4, 7-6 (10-8).

With the match in control, Yeaw completed a comeback win over Gruber at first singles, 6-7 (8-10), 6-3, 1-0 (10-2).
