Rain postpones Salve Regina tennis match

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University women's tennis has postponed its dual match with Johnson & Wales University due to rain on Friday, September 28. In lieu of re-scheduling the dual match, the teams are discussing dates in the Spring 2013 for a tournament-style event and include at least one more school.

"We've got a number of Division III schools in the area that want to enhance their spring schedules," said Seahawk head coach Ed Habershaw. "Salve Regina's certainly willing to host on our six outdoor hard courts on our Newport campus. Similar to our tournament on the grass courts at the Tennis Hall of Fame, players and teams enjoy coming to Newport for tennis."

The next Seahawk women's tennis match will be tomorrow against Gordon College. The starting time has been moved to 4 p.m. with the teams hoping to play at the Scots' Brigham Athletic Complex. Gordon College has reserved indoor court time at the Bass River Tennis Club in Beverly, Mass., for the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) match.
