Owls welcome Walsh and Seahawks back to Keene, N.H.

KEENE, N.H. - Four different student-athletes found the back of the net as the Keene State women's soccer team delivered a 4-0 victory over Salve Regina in a non-conference contest on Thursday evening at the Owl Athletic Complex.

How It Happened
Keene State got off to a hot start, as senior Katie Silegy collected a pass from freshman Rachel Braun on the right side and tucked the ball past the Seahawks' goaltender Carly Pala and into the lower leftside netting at the 1:16 mark for the early Owls advantage. Keene State continued to keep possession in their attacking half throughout the first stanza, as the Owls defenders allowed only one shot from Salve Regina in the 21st minute, when Emily Szemreylo placed a shot that went high. Keene State answered by doubling their lead in the 32nd minute, when freshman Sarah Carron found a surging Morgan Kathan in the box, as the senior was able to send it into the right corner. The Owls pushed their advantage to three just 5:37 later, when senior Tori Lairessent a long ball to senior Julia Pearson, who chipped the ball around Pala for the open opportunity to make it 3-0, Keene State, at the break.

Back-and-forth play opened up the second half, as bursts of offense occured on each end. In the 60th minute, senior Kali Santino fired off a shot from outside the box, forcing Pala to make a diving save to keep the Owls at bay, before junior Tyrah Urie broke through in the 70th minute. The forward raced past multiple defenders, before defeating Pala for Keene State's fourth goal of the game. Salve Regina produced an offensive surge late in the game, as the Seahawks earned three corner kicks and registered four shots in the final 11 minutes of play. In the 84th minute, Nicole Georges' header chance after a Salve Regina corner kick looked to spoil the Owls' shutout, but Keene State's goalkeeper Shelby Offord was there to pick up the shot in the box, as the Owls held on for the 4-0 victory.

Inside the Box

• Keene State outshot Salve Regina 11-1 in the first half and 15-12 overall, while the Seahawks earned seven corner kicks and the Owls finished without one.
• Between the pipes, Offord did not have to make a save during the first half for the Owls, but recorded a season-high seven saves for her third shutout of the season.
• For the Seahawks, Pala registered six saves in the loss. The Owls have won all three meetings all-time against the Seahawks.
• The meeting was the second meeting for Keene State alumnae and current Salve Regina head coach Jane Walsh against her alma mater and former head coach Denise Lyons.
