NEWPORT, R.I. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has selected Salve Regina University junior Carly Pala (Milford, Conn.) as its defensive player of the week for women's soccer (Sept. 25-Oct. 1).

Defensive Player of the Week - Pala earned two wins in net this week for Salve Regina. She opened the week by posting her fourth shutout in the last five games making five saves against Fitchburg State. She then allowed just one goal to defending CCC Champion Wentworth. She made 10 saves in that contest. Overall she posted a 0.50 goals against average and a .938 save percentage for the week.

Carly has been a solid presence in net all season long. She's worked very hard during practice to improve her skills, and it shows at game time. She's done well with directing our brand new back line and controlling the team within our box. The whole team trusts her and respects her. Carly's performance on the field and in the locker room is one of many reasons we've been so successful this year." - Salve Regina head coach Jane Walsh

The Seahawks (4-5-2, 1-1-1 CCC) will play at Walsh's alma mater, Keene State College, on Thursday, October 5 (4 p.m.) before returning home to host the Hawks of Roger Williams University on Saturday, October 7 (3 p.m.) in a CCC intra-state battle.
