DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Despite consistent offensive efforts by the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, a pair of late goals by Salve Regina ultimately propelled the visitors to a 2-0 victory for their first win of the season.

How it Happened
The hosts commanded the ball on offense throughout the first 25 minutes of the contest, with the Corsairs offering several shots on frame. Salve goalkeeper Carly Pala (Milford, Conn.) denied five shots in the first stanza, which accounted for most of her total of seven.
At the 30:37 mark, freshman Alexis Pacheco (Swansea, Mass.) beat the defense on a breakaway opportunity, but Pala's aggressive decision to come off her line and challenge the Corsair forward negated the UMass Dartmouth attempt.
Salve's lone first-half shot attempt arrived at the 13:10 mark when freshman Molly Breslin (Belle Harbor, N.Y.) had her effort turned away by freshman Corsair keeper Jaimee O'Brien (West Springfield, Mass.). Before the conclusion of the first half, sophomore Jaimie Nakamura (Aeia, Hawaii) fired a shot as time expired, but it was deflected away by the Seahawk defense.
It was not until late in the second half that each offense exchanged scoring opportunities. Senior forward Abby Silva (Fall River, Mass.) came close to putting the Corsairs ahead, but Pala again showed off her defensive instincts by meeting the opponent at the top left corner of the 18-yard box to come up with the save.
With ten minutes remaining and the match still scoreless, freshman forward Carah Cote (Adams, Mass.) dribbled along the right sideline with multiple defenders bearing down her. Cote found fellow Seahawk Delaney Maxell (Lincoln, R.I.) at the left side of the box and the junior beat O'Brien's diving effort to find the back corner of the net.
Just minutes later, Salve's Abby McMackin's (Walpole, Mass.) corner kick found the head of Lea Adams (Sandwich, Mass.), sealing the Seahawks' first victory of the 2017 campaign.
