Series and Streaks

Three Stars of the Match
1 – Salve Regina junior Courtney Bouchard scored the only goal of the game, hitting a line drive kick off the crossbar. It bounced on the line and rolled in good at 42:04.
2 – Nichols sophomore Brooke Downey (Middleboro, Mass.) stopped 13 of 14 shots but falls to 0-4 on the season.
3 – Salve Regina freshman Ella Rath (Pawcatuck, Conn.) registered seven shots, three on goal.
Turning Point
Bouchard's goal proved to be the difference in the game, but it was because of the Seahawk defense that the one goal was all Salve Regina needed. The Seahawks held the Bison to just three shots on goal in the second half and none the final 20 minutes of the contest.
Quick Hits
- Salve Regina has now won three straight, all of those victories coming at home.
- Carly Pala (Milford, Conn.) earned her third victory of the season in the net, stopping three shots.
- Salve Regina outshot Nichols 23-7 and 14-3 in shots on goal.
- The Seahawks held a 9-5 advantage in corner kicks.
- This was the ninth time the Seahawks have played on September 10 in program history. They are now 3-0-1 in their last four matches on this date.
Quote
"I'm pleased with how our back line handled Nichols' high-pressure attack. Carly did a great job of preserving our lead and certainly earned the shutout. I think we could have generated more opportunities up top in the second half and done a better job finishing, but overall it was another great performance." - head coach Jane Walsh
