NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University head coach Jessica DePolito announces her captains for the 2015 women's soccer season - Melissa Figueiredo (East Bridgewater, Mass.), Raine Oesterle (Monroe, Conn.), Alexis Pike (Smithfield, R.I.), and Anna Shultz (Higganum, Conn.). Shultz returns to the role she shared with two soon-to-be graduating seniors, Lauren Bulk (Portsmouth, R.I.) and Angelina Saporito (Bristol, Conn.).

"The coaching staff is very excited to work with these four athletes," says the third-year head coach. "They possess an incredible work ethic and all lead by example. Having a 'team first' approach to everything they do, I know they will do what is necessary to lead this program in the right direction."

Figueiredo, majoring in social work, had a goal and an assist during a 4-3 win over Rhode Island College (September 9, 2014) before a season-ending injury shut her down after the sixth game of 2014.  Oesterle, the only junior of this group, also majors in social work. Pike, majoring in education, plays on the back line for the Seahawk defense and assisted on a Shultz goal against Bridgewater State (September 23, 2014). Shultz, also majoring in education, had two goals and four assists on the season last fall.

All four captains have been members of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) All-Academic Team.

The Seahawks open their 2015 campaign with two night matches on the road, first at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (Sept. 1) and second at UMass Dartmouth (Sept. 3), before their home opener on September 5 against Rivier College.
