Women's Soccer #2 - Team Sportsmanship Award, individual honor for Bulk (October 30, 2014)

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University senior forward Lauren Bulk (Portsmouth, R.I.) earned a selection to the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) All-CCC Women's Soccer Team as honorable mention while the entire Seahawk squad was recognized with the league'sTeam Sportsmanship Award.

For the second straight year, Bulk tied for the team high in points (12 in 14 games, 13 games as a field player). She had five goals and two assists on the season to raise her career totals to 17 goals and five assists (39 points) in 65 games.

Bulk started one game as a goalkeeper in 2014, her first ever as a collegiate player. She led the team in scoring over the past two seasons with a dozen goals, including three game-winning goals, and four assists.

Salve Regina (3-13-0; 1-8-0 CCC) won its last game on September 27, a 2-1 victory against the Leopards of Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, Mass. The Seahawks, who missed the postseason for the second straight year, suffered three overtime defeats during a five-game homestand in September.

A 4-3 win over visiting Rhode Island College on September 9 was highlighted by a three-goal rally in the second half including a pair from freshman Francesca Galeazzi (Lynn, Mass.), who shared the team-high scoring honors with Bulk. Sophomore Ellie Dye (La Jolla, Calif.) had the game-winner off a corner kick from junior Anna Shultz (Higganum, Conn.).

Bulk, Shultz, and Angelina Saporito (Bristol, Conn.) captained the Seahawks in 2014. Bulk will graduate in May 2015 with a degree in business while Saporito will earn her degree in education.
