NEWPORT, R.I. - Sophomore forward Hannah Scahill (Quaker Hill, Conn.) scored two first-half goals and completed a hat trick in the second half as visiting Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer dealt a 4-1 defeat to host Salve Regina University in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Reynolds Field. The Lions improved to 4-5 overall and 1-1 in league play while the Seahawks suffered their second straight CCC loss (2-4; 0-2 CCC).

Scahill scored her first goal in the sixth minute to give the Lions a 1-0 lead. Scahill earned a one-on-one opportunity with first-time goalkeeper Emily Cuellar (Providence, R.I.) after a lofted pass from sophomore Alexis Schmidt (No. Smithfield, R.I.).

Schmidt made another nice cross to Scahill in the 31st minute; Cuellar denied the first shot but Scahill collected the rebound with her left foot and sent the ball into the net for a 2-0 lead.

Returning from halftime with a 2-0 score, the teams were scoreless for the first 25 minutes of the second stanza. Sam Williams (Forest Hill, Md.) took a Seahawk turnover to the right side endline and crossed to Jules Speno (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) who made a nice header for a 3-0 Eastern Nazarene advantage.

Scahill doubled her season goal total with her third of the game and the Lions led 4-0 with her left-footed shot from the top of the box on the right side.

The Seahawks spoiled the shutout bid for junior Kristen Farley (Westminster, Mass.) when Lauren Bulk (Portsmouth, R.I.) fed freshman Taylor Meyers (Washington Township, N.J.) who one-touched the ball into the net. Meyers scored her first collegiate goal and became the ninth Seahawk to score in 2014. Bulk, who shared the team goal-scoring honors with seven in 2013, was one of only three Seahawks to score goals last season.

Farley finished with 10 saves in the win while Cuellar collected four saves in her first time in net.

Salve Regina hosts non-league Bridgewater State University on Tuesday to end a five-game homestand. The Lions wait a week before hosting University of New England next Saturday in Quincy.

Eastern Nazarene has won the last three meetings in the series with Salve Regina after the Seahawks had won the first 15 straight.
