Bulk buries goal to beat Bison

DUDLEY, Mass. - The Nichols College women's soccer team was defeated by Salve Regina University 1-0 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday afternoon at the Nichols Soccer Field.

The Bison fired off no shots in the second half and were outshot in the game by the Seahawks 16-6.  Junior goaltender Sarah Whitestone (Dalton, Mass.) recorded five saves on the afternoon.  Seahawks freshman Carly Montgomery (Malverne, N.Y.) had one save and recorded her second shutout of the season.

The lone goal in the game came at 34:22 in the first half when sophomore Anna Shultz (Higganum, Conn.) passed it up to junior Lauren Bulk (Portsmouth, R.I.) just outside the six and she fired one in to the backside of the net to give the Seahawks the lead.

Junior Elizabeth Coleman (West Roxbury, Mass.) had two shots to lead the Bison while Seahawks senior Erin McCullough (Ludlow, Mass.) fired off six shots to lead Salve Regina.

The loss moves the Bison to (5-11-0) on the year and (0-6-0) in the CCC while Salve Regina moves to (3-11-1) and picks up its first conference win of the year (1-5-0).

Bison travel to Beverly, Mass. for a conference match with Endicott on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.  Salve Regina will travel to Western New England for a conference match on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m.
