The Golden Bears own a 13-2 advantage all-time.

Three Stars of the Game

  2. WNE sophomore Eileen Ruby scored four goals, including the game-winner in double overtime, dished out two assists, and won a game-high six draw controls.

Key Stat of the Game
The Seahawks were held to 1-for-8 on free position shots, due in large part to the efforts of McFadden between the pipes.

Senior Moment
The Seahawks honored their three seniors before the game today. Katie Kline, Megan Geier, and Brianna Wilcox all comprise the Seahawks class of 2018 and were joined by friends and family on the field for a special pregame ceremony.

Turning Point
Salve Regina trailed most of the game, but battled to take a 11-9 lead with 3:04 left to play. Nearly a minute later Ruby scored her third of the afternoon to draw the visitors within one then thirty seconds later Lindsey Phillips (East Longmeadow, Mass.) evened the score with her third of the game. In overtime the Golden Bears controlled the ball and had all the scoring chances but the Seahawks defense stood strong. In the waning moments of the first extra frame Katie Kline (Brookfield, Conn.) had a shot miss only inches high as time expired and the teams remained tied. In the second overtime the Golden Bears again controlled the ball and the chances. On an outlet pass from midfield, Ruby collided with Seahawks' netminder Christina Myers (River Edge, N.J.). A foul was called and free position was awarded to the Golden Bears. Since Myers had been the one whistled for the foul she had to vacate the net, and Ruby had an empty net to shoot at on free-position to win the game for Western New England.

Quick Hits

  • Shots were even at 36 for each team.
  • Myers finished the game with 15 saves in net for the Seahawks to fall to 5-6 in net.
