NEWPORT, R.I. – Head coach Bill Villareal, who is entering his fourth season at the helm of the Salve Regina University women's lacrosse team, is very excited to announce the team captains for the 2018 season.  Each year, the team selects senior and junior team captains.

Senior midfielder, Brianna Wilcox (Somers, Conn.), was selected as a team captain following her selection as the 2017 junior team captain. A highly respected nursing major and an Academic All-CCC selection, this talented midfielder works extremely hard and is a very positive role model for all of her teammates.

Senior midfielder Katie Kline (Bookefield, Conn.), was selected as a senior team captain.  An All-CCC and Academic All-CCC selection, Kline double majors in secondary education and mathematics.  She is a solid and highly dependable player who has a relentless drive and work ethic.  She led the team with 93 draw controls in 2017.

Junior midfielder, Lindsey Smith (North Attleboro, Mass.), was selected as a junior team captain.  Smith is also a double major in secondary education and history.  She's an outstanding midfielder who excels in transition play and enjoys getting her teammates involved on both ends of the field.

Junior defensive player Kerri Beland (Attleboro, Mass.), was selected as a junior team captain.  Kerri is a two-sport athlete and team captain in both lacrosse and basketball.   An accounting major, she is a reliable and disciplined defensive player who will lead the Seahawks defensive unit.

"I'm very excited for the 2018 women's lacrosse season," said head coach Bill Villareal.  "These student-athletes have worked extremely hard.  I look forward to having these outstanding players lead the team throughout the 2018 season!"

The Seahawks begin their season at home on February 27 at 7 p.m., when they play host to Coast Guard.
