Five Seahawks named to All-CCC squad

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) announced its 2017 Women's Lacrosse All-Conference Teams and major award winners Friday afternoon. All nine CCC schools were represented on this year's All-Conference list. Endicott and Roger Williams each had eight selections to lead the pack. Salve Regina University had five members of its women's lacrosse team make the list.

Seniors Katilin Gillespie (Haddam, Conn.) and Jacqueline Pilatti (South Windsor, Conn.) were named to the second team All-CCC list while sophomore Katie Kline (Brookfield, Conn.) and freshman Bridget Newbury (Bridgewater, Mass.) and Maddie Villareal (Portsmouth, Mass.) were named to the third team.

Gillespie netted 35 goals this season, scoring a hat-trick or better six different times, while surpassing 100 goals in her career as a Seahawk. She currently ranks ninth all-time in Seahawks program history with 103 career goals. This is her second time being named All-CCC.

Pilatti collected a team high 36 groundballs this season and was third on the Seahawks with 20 draw control wins. This is her second All-CCC team.

Kline gets named to her first all-conference squad and was second on the Seahawks for goals scored, netting 38 to go with five assists. She won 89 draws during the regular season, tops in the CCC.

Villareal ranked third in the CCC for goals scored and tops for Salve Regina. She netted 51 goals and dished out 15 assists, scoring a hat-trick or better 10 separate times. Currently her 66 points are the sixth best single-season mark in program history. A as a freshman she makes her first All-CCC squad.

Newbury made 92 saves in her first season between the pipes for the Seahawks and started in every game. This is Newury's first All-CCC team.

Voting for the All-CCC teams and each of the major awards was conducted by the conference's nine women's lacrosse head coaches following the conclusion of the regular season.
