BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Junior midfielder Lauren Geary (Hull, Mass.) scored six goals and sophomore goaltender Allie Forman (Marblehead, Mass.) turned aside 19 shots to lead the Bridgewater State University women's lacrosse team to a 15-6 non-conference victory over visiting Salve Regina University on Tuesday night at chilly Swenson Field.

The Bears even their record at 2-2 with the win, while the Seahawks slip to 2-3.

Senior attack Riley Cachelin (Westwood, Mass.) added two goals and four assists for the hosts. Cachelin assisted on four of Geary's six goals including three in the first half as the Bears opened up an 8-1 lead at the break and were never seriously threatened in the second half. Freshman defender Brooke Buckner (Foxboro, Mass.) netted her first collegiate goal to cap off the first half scoring with 45 seconds remaining.

Geary scored just 1:13 into the final stanza and, after the Seahawks cut the deficit to 9-2, back-to-back tallies by sophomore attack Melissa Renauld (Framingham, Mass.) and classmate Alex King (Weymouth, Mass.) pushed the BSU advantage to nine (11-2) with 19:38 remaining.

Salve was able to close the gap to seven on two separate occasions the rest of the way, but that would be as close as the Seahawks would get.

Forman made ten saves in the first half and nine over the final thirty minutes en route to her second win of the season.

King chipped in with three goals and an assist for the Bears, while Renauld also potted three goals.

Freshman midfielder Katie Kline (Brookfield, Conn.) paced the visitors with four goals, while netminders Josephine O'Reilly (Middletown, R.I.) and Katie Jones (Derry, N.H.) combined to make 15 saves.

Bridgewater State held slight advantage in shots (36-32), ground balls (13-11) and draw controls (12-11). Salve junior midfielder Abigail Tepper (Foxboro, Mass.) led all players with seven draws, while King and Geary notched six and five, respectively, for the Bears.

In upcoming action, the Bears travel to Wheaton College on Saturday afternoon for a non-conference game with the Lyons starting at one. The Seahawks head to Rhode Island College on Thursday evening to take on the Anchorwomen at six.
