Wildcats trip up Seahawks 4-1

PAWTUCKET, R.I. – Back on the ice for the first time in nearly a month, the Johnson & Wales University women's ice hockey team started the second half of the 2019-20 season with a victory over Salve Regina University, 4-1, on Friday.

Of Note:
In the opening period, senior Kathryn Mason scored twice in the span of three minutes. She weaved passed two SRU defenders, swooped in front of the net and flicked the puck past Madison Jalbert.

Mason's second goal came when she used a Seahawk defender as a shield and fired a wrist shot to the top shelf. It's the eighth multi-goal game of her career.

Just five minutes into the second period, Hannah Tracy gave the Wildcats an insurance goal. Samantha Kawejsza kept the puck in the SRU zone, Shannon Reilly poked it to Tracy and she came in front of the goal and fired a wrist shot into the back of the net.

Midway through the third period, the Seahawks got on the board when Suzi Pearson's shot deflected off the blocking pad of Claire Parry and into the net.

The junior stopped 13 of 14 shots for her second victory of the year. JWU outshot the Seahawks, 19-14.
