NEWPORT, R.I. - The Salve Regina University women's ice hockey team earns the No. 6 seed in the Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) Championships and travels to two-time defending champion No. 3 Morrisville State College for a first round meeting on Saturday afternoon in Morrisville, N.Y.

BIDDEFORD, Maine – A short-handed goal by Taylor Chisholm with 3:02 to play lifted Salve Regina University over the University of New England in Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) action at the Harold Alfond Forum on Saturday. The road team won both games of the home-and-home series, spoiling each other's Senior Nights.

SEAHAWKS NOTES FROM THE NEST

  • This is the 13th straight season the Seahawks have been in the postseason and first competing in the CHC.
  • Salve Regina will try to reach the semifinals for the first time since the 2014-15 season.
  • The Seahawks had three players with double-digit points on the season - Taylor Chisholm (21), Rebecca Hasting (14), and Lexie Anderson (13).
  • Taylor Chisholm had a team-high 13 goals and was named a First-Team forward on the CHC All-Conference squad.
  • Senior netminder Jennifer O'Connell made 15 starts, improving on her program record 76 career games played. O'Connell made 389 saves with a .915 save percentage.
  • The Seahawks have three seniors on their team - Angela Augusta (Windham, N.H.), Taylor Chisholm (Discovery Bay, Calif.), and Jennifer O'Connell (Marstons Mills, Mass.) comprise the Seahawks Class of 2019.

MUSTANGS MUSINGS

  • The Mustangs have won back-to-back conference titles (2017, 2018).
  • The Mustangs program began in 2015-16.
  • The Mustangs are led in total scoring by Maddison Devlin (11g-18a-29p) and in goal scoring by Jessica Ujick (14g-10a-24p).
  • Karoline Årvik made 21 starts between the pipes for the Mustangs and registered 406 saves, a .919 save percentage, and three shutouts.

INSIDE THE SERIES
Morrisville State and Salve Regina met for the first time this season with the Mustangs claiming both games. The Mustangs outscored the Seahawks 11-2 between both games.

Winner advances to the Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) semifinal versus Nichols College on Saturday, March 2. The semifinals and final, played on March 3, are hosted by top seeded Endicott College in Beverly, Mass.
