Summary
MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - Backstopped by 42 saves from freshman goalie Gabrielle Ohanesian (Bozeman, Mont.), visiting Anna Maria College earned its first victory in program history by defeating the Salve Regina University women's ice hockey team 2-1 Saturday evening in non-conference action.

- Salve Regina freshman Maggie Leonard (Pembroke, Mass.) scored her first career goal 1:18 into the third period to tie the game 1-1.

Turning Point
Maggie Leonard had just scored to tie the game 1-1 and all the momentum was swinging the Seahawks way to start the third period when Juianne Nelson recieved a pass in stride at center and took off. She streaked down the left side and found an angle to the net and wristed a shot home just 47 seconds after the Leonard goal to give the lead back to Anna Maria. Salve Regina continued to pepper Ohanesian with shots, but could not find the equalizer even with the goalie pulled and a 6-on-4 in the closing minutes.
Quick Hits
- The AMCATS got on the board first with a goal from Katahdin Whitney (Canton, Conn.) 3:33 into the second period. Her shot from an off-angle on the wing deflected off a Seahawk and found its way to the back of the net.
- Gretchen Howard (Winthrop, Mass.) made 13 saves in the loss and falls to 0-5-0 between the pipes this season.
- The Seahawks were held to 0-for-5 on the powerplay while the AMCATS went 0-for-3 including a 5-on-3 chance in the third period.
