MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - Visiting UMass Boston defeated the Salve Regina University women's hockey team 2-1 Saturday evening in a non-conference matchup at St. George's.

- UMass junior Erica Lunn (Kingston, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal early in the third period. She also handed out an assist.
- Salve Regina senior Jennifer O'Connell (Marstons Mills, Mass.) made 29 saves in the loss to fall to 2-5-1 between the pipes. She also passes Rebecca Simmons for the most career games played by a Seahawks goaltender (69).
- UMass senior Alyssa DePippo (Pittsburgh, Pa.) made 17 saves to improve to 4-4-1.

Turning Point
The Beacons led 1-0 heading into the third period thanks to an Edy Moritz (Guilford, Conn.) score at 14:39 of the second period. Erica Lunn, who assisted on the Moritz goal, lit the lamp herself 1:54 in the third period to make it a 2-0 advantage for the visitors. It proved to be a necessary goal as Taylor Chisholm (Discovery Bay, Calif.) scored on a powerplay for the Seahawks with one minute remaining to make it a 2-1 game. Salve Regina could not get another shot on net in the final minute and the Beacons hung on for the victory.
