Seahawks sail past Pilgrims 5-3

HENNIKER, N.H.—The New England College women's ice hockey team suffered a 5-3 loss to the Seahawks of Salve Regina University in Friday evening's New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action at Lee Clement Arena.

The win boosts the Seahawks to 4-19-1, while NEC falls to 2-20-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Seahawks struck early, netting their first goal just 2:22 into the first period. The guests would take a two-goal advantage just over seven minutes later on a score by Susanna Pearson.

Salve Regina took a 3-0 lead in the early minutes of the second period before NEC scored their first goal of the game, when Morgan Lamos (St. Albans, Vt.) slapped in a rebound off of an Alexa Scribner (Falmouth, Mass.) shot.

The Seahawks would score twice more in the second period to lead 5-1 entering the final period.

The Pilgrims scored their second goal in the 14th minute of the third period on a power play goal by Erica Lissner (Woburn, Mass.) and added one final score with just over one second left in the game in a slap shot from the point by Scribner. 

NEC finished 2-for-6 on power plays, while Salve Regina was 2-for-7 with the extra-skater.

GOALTENDERS
NEC goaltender Jackie Clark (Dorchester, Mass.) tallied 33 saves, while Salve Regina's Gretchen Howard stopped 25 shots.
