O'Connell named HERO Sports: Hero of the Week

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University women's ice hockey goaltender Jennifer O'Connell (Marstons Mills, Mass.) has been named the Division III women's hockey Hero of the Week by HERO Sports.

O'Connell was also named the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) goaltender of the week for her efforts during a three game stretch last week. In those three games she made 115 saves with a .942 save percentage as the Seahawks faced two nationally ranked teams and high-octane offenses.

"It's a great honor to have Jennie OConnell recognized for this award," said head coach Beth McCann. "She has a great work ethic on and off the ice. She demonstrates great leadership and is the backbone of our team. This recognition brings great pride and respect for her as a player and Salve Regina University."

The Seahawks (2-11-0, 1-5-0 NEHC) travel to face Williams on Saturday December 9 at 3 p.m., in another non-conference matchup.
