Four points for Cronin in win over Bison

HARRISVILLE, R.I. – The Nichols College women's ice hockey team fell 4-1 to Salve Regina in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action Friday evening at Levy Rink.

Seahawks senior captain Amanda Cronin (Medfield, Mass.) potted three goals and assisted on another to lead Salve Regina to its first conference-win of the year. Sophomore Angela Augusta (Windham, N.H.) scored her first goal of the season late in the third period to round out the scoring.

Senior captain Emily Wood (Wakefield, Mass.) potted the only goal of the game for the Bison at 12:48 of the third period to cut the deficit to 2-1 before the Seahawks were able to strike for two more to seal the win. The goal was Wood's first of the season and second of her career and it was assisted on by freshman Jill Hannigan (Portland, Maine) and sophomore Mikayla Castro (Killingworth, Conn.).

The Seahawks outshot the Bison 47-14 for the game – including 17-3 in the first period. Cronin matched the Bison's 14 shots by herself to lead the Seahawks while Hannigan and Wood paced the Bison with three shots each.

Sophomore Cassandra Goyette (Norton, Mass.) made 43 saves for the Bison while sophomore Jennifer O'Connell (Marstons Mills, Mass.) stopped 13 shots in the win.

All-Time Series

The Bison fall to 0-17-1 against the Seahawks in the all-time series with the lone tie coming back in 2012.
