HARRISVILLE, R.I. – Senior Tori Gianformaggio (Huntington Beach, Calif.) stopped a season-high 51 shots as Nichols College women's ice hockey fell to Salve Regina 4-0 in Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) East action Friday night at Levy Rink.

Gianformaggio now has 465 saves on the season, surpassing her career-high total from a year ago when she had 458.

Despite being outshot 24-11 through the first period, the score remained scoreless headed into the first intermission. The Seahawks (13-7-1, 11-3-0 ECACE) picked up the eventual game-winner early in the second period as freshman Grace Nardiello (Lake Placid, N.Y.) centered a pass in front of the net and junior Danielle Phalon (Stoneham, Mass.) connected on a one-timer into the back of the net.

Salve Regina extended its lead at 13:19 when sophomore Michelle Holmes (Goffstown, N.H.) took a shot from the slot that found its way through Gianformaggio to make it 2-0. Phalon and Nardiello were credited with assist on the play.

The Seahawks were able to tack on two more in the third period to seal the win including another goal from Phalon, the leading scorer in the conference, to give her three points on the night (2-1-3).

Senior Alyssa Bufis (Linden, N.J.) led all Bison with nine shots while senior Grace Murphy (Montclair, Va.) tallied seven. Senior Taylor Shephard (Quincy, Mass.) led all Seahawks with a game-high 11 shots.

Gianformaggio falls to 6-8-0 on the season while sophomore Colleen Marcik (Madison, Conn.) made 31 saves and moves to 12-6-1 on the year.

"It is always a really hard fought game when we play Salve Regina," said Nichols College head coach Wil Brown. "We seemed to lack some intensity through the second period but am ultimately proud of the way our girls played."
