AMHERST, Mass. - The No. 9/6 Amherst College women's hockey team outshot Salve Regina University, 47-18 en route to a convincing, 6-0 victory in Tuesday evening's non-conference game at Orr Rink.

In a game that saw Amherst control the tempo of the play from start to finish, the Purple & White struck for its first tally at the 5:09 mark when Audrey Duquette '17 scored her first goal of the season following assists from Camille Herzog '17 and senior captain Madeline Tank. Just 21 seconds later, the Jeffs increased their advantage to 2-0 when Emma Griese '18 scored at the 5:30 mark. Senior assistant captain Tori Salmon and Lynndy Smith '17 provided the helpers on the goal. At the 16:29 mark, Griese lit the lamp for a second time in the period (and sixth time this season), giving Amherst a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes of play. Smith and Salmon once again set up the scoring play.

After outshooting the Seahawks, 17-6 in the first frame, the Jeffs continued to pepper the Salve Regina net, outshooting the visitors, 20-2 in the second stanza. A beautiful steal and pass up the wing from Caroline Bomstein '16 allowed Erin Martin '16 to skate in on the Seahawks' goal and she finished with her fifth marker of the season to make it 4-0 at the 6:42 mark of the second period. The Purple & White upped its advantage late in the stanza after being awarded a power play with just 46 seconds left in the session. With 14 seconds on the clock, Caitlyn Ryan '17 blasted a shot from just inside the blue line into the net for her fourth of the campaign. Emily Flom '15 and Eileen Harris '16 set up the late goal.

In the third period, Alex Toupal '18 netted her sixth of the season after passes from Salmon and Griese at the 10:34 mark. Amherst and Salve Regina each fired 10 shots on goal in the final period.

Seahawks' net-minder Colleen Marcik (11-6-1) finished with 41 saves, while Amherst's Sabrina Dobbins '18 (7-1-2) stopped all 18 shots that she faced.

With the win, Amherst improves to 15-2-3 overall, while Salve Regina moves to 12-7-1 overall. Tuesday's contest was originally scheduled for Jan. 27, but was postponed due to inclement weather.
