SALVE REGINA VS. CASTLETON STATE
  •  Salve Regina and Castleton State have faced off 17 times prior to tonight's contest. 
  • The Seahawks hold a 9-7-1 advantage in the all time series with the first and only tie coming on Feb. 1, 2014.
  • SRU is unbeaten in the last three meetings between the two squads including a pair of wins during the 2012-13 season. 
  • The Spartans are 4-2-1 all time at St. George's Arena.
SEAHAWKS IN THE PLAYOFFS
  • Salve Regina snapped a five-game skid in the opening round of the playoffs with its 5-0 win over Plymouth State last Saturday. 
  • Including last week's game, the Seahawks hosted five different opponents in the opening round, and until last Saturday, lost in the opening round. 
  • The last win for the Seahawks in the playoffs was in 2009 when Salve Regina defeated Manhattanville (1-0) in the semifinals before falling to Norwich in the title game. 
I'M HONORED
  • Salve Regina landed three players on the ECAC Women's East All-Conference teams. 
  • Sophomore Danielle Phalon earned a spot on All-Conference second team as a forward while freshman Amanda Cronin and Colleen Marcik were named to the All-Rookie team. 
  • Phalon leads the team and is fifth in the league is scoring with 28 points (11g, 17a) and needs just five points and assists to tie the single-season marks at Salve Regina. 
  • Cronin started every game of her freshman campaign on defense for the Seahawks and has 14 points (5g, 9a) on the year. Cronin is sixth in the league in defensemen scoring and fifth in freshman scoring. 
  • Marcik has an impressive 2.15 goals against average and a .924 save percentage in her first year tending the net for Salve Regina. Marcik comes into the tournament with the best GAA and save percentage of any first year goalie in the league. 
  • Senior goalie Ali Ponte was the only All-Conference honoree for Plymouth State.

SCORING LEADERS
  • Returning for the Seahawks are three of the top scorers from a year ago, all breaking the 20-point mark for the season. Juniors Sarah Markey (26 points • 10g, 16a), Taylor Shepherd (24 points • 12g, 12a), and Michaela Chiuccariello (23 points • 13g, 10a) look to lead the Seahawk offense once again.
  • Leading the Seahawks this season is sophomore Danielle Phalon with 28 points (11g, 17a) on the season. 
  • Chiuccariello (24 pts • 15g, 9a), Markey (24 pts • 11g, 13a), and Shepherd (23 pts • 11g, 12a) all have at least 20 points this season for the Seahawks. 
  • Chiuccariello leads the team with 14 goals on the year. 
  • Shepherd leads the team with four game-winning goals. 
  • Sophomore Nicoline Jensen leads the Spartans with 32 points (13g, 19a) while classmate Anna Daniels (29 pts • 13g, 16a) and freshman Lisa Kilroy (24 pts • 10g, 14a) each have at least 20 points this season.  
LAST TIME OUT - SALVE REGINA
  • Salve Regina rolled to a 5-0 win over Plymouth State in the opening round of the ECAC Women's East Tournament. 
  • Five different Seahawks scored, including Shannon Coleman, Taylor Shepherd, Shelby Johnson, Amanda Cronin and Michelle Holmes
  •  Coleman and Cronin added an assist as well and Sarah Markey handed out a pair of assists in the shutout. 
  • Freshman goalie Colleen Marcik posted the first shutout for the Seahawks in the playoffs since 2009. 
LAST TIME OUT - CASTLETON
  • Sophomore Nicoline Jensen scored the game's long-goal in Castleton's 1-0 win over Southern Maine in the quartfinals last Saturday just three minutes into the contest. 
  • Goalie Paula Stephens earned her fourth shutout of the season, and her second career shutout. 
  • Named ECAC Women's East Goalie of the Year prior to the start of the playoffs, Stephens proved it needing just 14 saves in the win for the Spartans. 
COACHES' CORNER
  • Salve Regina head coach Michael Cox enters his eighth season as the winningest coach in the history of the program (87-86-15; .503).
  • His teams have made the ECAC Women's East playoffs all seven seasons with Cox at the helm.
  • Since the 2007-2008 season, Salve Regina has reached double-figure victory totals each year.
ECAC WOMEN'S EAST PRE-SEASON POLL
  • Salve Regina ranks fifth in the 2013-14 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Women's East preseason coaches' poll (94 points).
  • Only two Division III schools are picked higher: (1) Norwich and (3) Manhattanville
  • The Seahawks finished the regular season with an 11-7-0 mark in conference play and earned their fourth straight first-round home playoff game (coincidentally, against a different opponent each year).
TURN OF THE CENTURY MARK
  • Salve Regina added women's ice hockey to its varsity lineup in 2000-01.
  • The Seahawks' 5-1 win against Nichols on February 18, 2013, at Burrillville, R.I., was the 100th in the history of the program.

  • Head coach Michael Cox notched his 100th career victory at the helm of Salve Regina with the Seahawks 8-2 win over Nichols on Senior Day (Feb. 16)
  • Cox is 101-90-19 all time at Salve Regina. 

RECORD BOOK CHECK

  • Rachel Porter graduated as the program's all-time leading point scorer (102 points • 45g, 57a) last spring.
  • Current Seahawk Sarah Markey (34g, 35a) is currently third in points all time at Salve Regina with 69.
  • Michaela Chiuccariello (35g, 32a) is fourth all-time at Salve Regina with 67 career points. 
  • Taylor Shepherd is sixth with 63 points (33g, 30a).
  • Markey is fourth in the program with 34 career goals while Chiuccariello is third with 35 goals. Shepherd is sixth with 33 goals. Caitlin Campbell holds the Seahawk record with 53 goals from 2005 to 2009.
  • Muehlbronner recorded the most wins (32) of any goaltender in Seahawk history.
