Duo named ECAC Women's East Players of the Week

CENTERVILLE, Mass. - Sophomore Danielle Phalon (Stoneham, Mass.) and freshman Amanda Cronin (Medfield, Mass.) earned the Eastern College Athletic Conference Women's East Player  and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively, as announced by the league office, Monday afternoon. 

Salve Regina finished the week 3-0 with wins over Nichols (7-2), Southern Maine (3-1) and Plymouth State (4-3) to improve to 11-5-3 on the year and 6-4 in the conference. 

Phalon had a seven point week for the Seahawks Against Nichols, Phalon netted both her goals on a power play while her final assist against Plymouth State came on the game-winner quickly into the third period. The forward is seventh in the league in scoring with a team-high 20 points (10g, 10a) on the year. 

Cronin finished the week with five points for the Seahawks, including three assists in Salve Regina's 7-2 win over Nichols to open the week. She finished the week with two points against Plymouth State, including a power play goal in the second period to give the Seahawks their first lead of the game.

Joining Phalon and Cronin on the weekly honor roll was fresham goalie Colleen Marcik (Madison, Conn.). Marcik recorded two wins on the week for the Seahawks. The rookie goalie opened the week with a 7-2 win over Nichols with 31 saves, before edging Southern Maine for a 3-1 win, stopping 29 of the 30 shots she faced.

Salve Regina returns to the ice when the Seahawks host New England College on Friday at 7 p.m., followed by a contest with Castleton State on Saturday at 7 p.m. Both ECAC East games will be held at St. George's.
