MIDDLETOWN, R.I. – In the fifth overtime game of the season, the Salve Regina Seahawks skated to a 3-3 tie with Franklin Pierce, Tuesday evening. Three different Seahawks scored a goal in the Seahawks' third tie of the year.

With the Seahawks leading 3-2 with just under six minutes to play, sophomore Bryana Harron (Woburn, Mass.) collected the puck in a scrum in front of the net and slipped it past the Seahawk goalie, freshman Colleen Marcik (Madison, Conn.) to tie the game 3-3. Despite a power play opportunity for Salve Regina late in the third period, the Seahawks were unable to get the puck in the net to send the game into overtime.

Ravens' sophomore goalie Noelle White (Austin, Texas) made five saves in the final five minutes while Marcik needed just three saves to keep FPU off the board and the game tied. The tie is the third of the season for Salve Regina and the first for Franklin Pierce.

Freshman Kayla Smith (Woburn, Mass.) kicked off the scoring for Salve Regina with her second goal of the season to give SRU a 1-0 lead at the 7:29 mark in the first. Both goalies played solid first periods in the net as Marcik did not allow a goal in the opening 20 minutes and White only allowing one tally.

On a carry over power play from the first period, sophomore Colleen Douchette (Wakefield, Mass.) quickly tied the game just 19 seconds into the second period off assists from sophomore Michaela Faia (Malden, Mass.) and freshman Katie Flynn (Sandwich, Mass.). Junior Michaela Chiuccariello (Winchester, Mass.) gave the lead back to the Seahawks with her fifth goal of the year off a pass from sophomore Kimberly Spring (Kensington, Conn.) just under two minutes later. Once again the defense took control and the score remained 2-1 after two periods.

Freshman Amanda Cronin (Medfield, Mass.) extended the Seahawk lead to 3-1 with her fourth goal of the year 3:19 into the third period. Freshman Marisa Ketterman (Palmer, Alaska) cut the Seahawk lead to 3-2 with her eighth goal of the year before Harron tied it with 5:54 to play in regulation.

Marcik made 16 saves over the 65 minutes of action while White made 31 stops in the net for the Ravens.

Salve Regina returns to the ice Saturday when the Seahawks travel to Manhattanville to kick off a four-game road trip while the Ravens welcome the University of New England on Friday at 7 p.m.
