ECAC Player of the Week: Monika Borkowski

CENTERVILLE, Mass. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Women's East Ice Hockey recognizes Salve Regina University senior Monika Borkowski (Ann Arbor, Mich.) as its Player of the Week.

In the Seahawks' season-opener on Saturday, Borkowski had assists on the game-tying and game winning goals in a 3-2 win over the Neumann Knights. Both Salve Regina goals came in the third period. Sophomore Shelby Johnson (Sterling, Mass.) scored the game-tying goal at 4:45 and three minutes later junior Taylor Shepherd (Quincy, Mass.) put the Seahawks ahead with her power-play goal.

The honor is the first recognition for Borkowski from the ECAC.

Salve Regina (1-0) plays at Holy Cross on Saturday (2 p.m.).
