Summary
NEWPORT, R.I. - Junior guard Torie Scorpio (Cranston, R.I.) tied the game at 69-69 with 21 seconds remaining before freshman guard Amanda Leal (Tungsboro, Mass.) made the first of two free throws for the winning point as Curry College defeated Salve Regina University, 70-69, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's basketball action at the Rodgers Recreation Center. Scorpio got an inbounds pass in front of her bench with 3.2 ticks left, but could not get off a shot before time expired.

Salve Regina (10-15, 6-10 CCC) enters the conference postseason as the No. 6 seed and will play at No. 3 seed Western New England University, who won a battle with Roger Williams University for that spot in the final regular season game. The Colonels (14-11, 10-6 CCC) had already wrapped up the No. 5 seed and now know they face the Hawks on Tuesday evening in Bristol, R.I.

Salve Regina celebrated its five seniors - Lauryn Becker (Hanover, Mass.), Kerri Beland (Attleboro, Mass.), Tara Burke (Londonderry, N.H.), Liv Pierce (Tyngsboro, Mass.), Mikayla Roderick (New Bedford, Mass.) - before the game with all starting and combining for 37 points.

Scorpio was high-scorer for the Seahawks with 22 points off the bench. Curry senior Emily Irwin (Billerica, Mass.) led all players with 25 points including 10 of 17 from the free-throw line.
