NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University women's basketball made eight 3-pointers including four by senior Kerri Beland (Attleboro, Mass.) and three by junior Torie Scorpio (Cranston, R.I.) and the Seahawks won their first home game of the season, 71-60, over visiting Bridgewater State University at the Rodgers Recreation Center. Beland finished with 18 points and Scorpio had a game-high 23 for the Seahawks (2-5) who also had Tara Burke (Londonderry, N.H.) in double-figures with 14 points. Four Bears (1-5) produced double-digit points led by Nicole Bostick (Taunton, Mass.) with 14 points, Olivia DelGrosso (Ledyard, Conn.) with 12 points, and Kailyn Aguilar (Acushnet, Mass.) and Kayla Carter (Beverly, Mass.) with 10 apiece.

Series and Streaks
Today's non-league matchup marked the ninth meeting in women's basketball between Salve Regina and Bridgewater State. It's been 16 years since the last meeting, won by the Seahawks on their not-yet two-year-old hardwood court in the Rodgers Recreation Center. This is only the fourth visit by the Bears to Newport for women's basketball since 1982. Both teams come into today with one win on the season. Bridgewater State leads the series, 6-3.
