Golden Bears pull away from Seahawks in fourth quarter

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Salve Regina University women's basketball took a four-point lead (34-30) when it opened the second half with a 7-0 run, but Western New England University followed with its own 10-0 run and then pulled away late in the fourth quarter to finish with a 64-52 win in quarterfinal action of the 2019 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championships.

NEWPORT, R.I. - The Salve Regina University women's basketball team earns the No. 6 seed in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championships and travels No. 3 Western New England University for a quarterfinal meeting on Tuesday evening in Springfield.

NEWPORT, R.I. - On the eve of the postseason, Salve Regina University women's basketball has two honorees for all-conference selections in voting by the nine Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) head coaches - Second Team All-CCC Torie Scorpio (Cranston, R.I.) and Third Team All-CCC Kerri Beland (Attleboro, Mass.).

NEWPORT, R.I. - Junior guard Torie Scorpio (Cranston, R.I.) tied the game at 69-69 with 21 seconds remaining before freshman guard Amanda Leal (Tungsboro, Mass.) made the first of two free throws for the winning point as Curry College defeated Salve Regina University, 70-69, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's basketball action at the Rodgers Recreation Center.

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University senior Kerri Beland (Attleboro, Mass.) scored a second-half layup for her fourth point of the game and 1,000th of her career.

University of New England used a 10-4 run to close out a victory over the Seahawks in a CCC contest Saturday afternoon.

Four Seahawks in double figures during road win

BOSTON, Mass. – Four of five starters scored in double figures to propel Salve Regina University over Wentworth Institute of Technology, 69-48, in Commonwealth Coast Conference women's basketball action Saturday afternoon inside Tansey Gymnasium.

The Commonwealth Coast Conference teamed up with Hope Happens Here to sponsor a league-wide awareness night to combat the stigma that surrounds mental health.
Salve Regina holds off Gordon at home, 53-51

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University women's basketball defeated Gordon College, 53-51, behind a trio of double-figure scorers - seniors Kerri Beland (Attleboro, Mass.) and Tara Burke (Londonderry, N.H.) with 16 and 11 points apiece, and sophomore Mary Rorke (Norton, Mass.) chipping in 10 points.

Salve Regina University hosts Gordon College at the Rodgers Recreation Center in a CCC basketball doubleheader on Wednesday, January 16 (women tip off at 5:30 p.m.; men tip off at 7:30 p.m.).
Seahawks host Scots in Mental Health Awareness Games with H3 Foundation

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men and women's basketball teams will be hosting games as part of a conference-wide initiative to raise mental health awareness. The event will be in partnership with Hope Happens Here (H3), a foundation dedicated to educating others on mental health issues. The games are scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 16.

Seahawks sink Gulls with last-second game-winning basket

BEVERLY, Mass. - Torie Scorpio (Cranston, R.I.) sank the game-winning basket for Salve Regina University women's basketball with 1.1-seconds to play as the junior point guard used a pick at the free throw line, drove to the basket, and let go a right-handed floater that circled around the rim until it fell in dramatically with little time remaining for an Endicott answer.
