Seahawks land 80 on Spring All-CCC Academic Team

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Salve Regina University placed 80 student-athletes on the Commonwealth Coast Conference Spring Academic All-CCC Team, second-most in the conference, including junior Kerri Beland (No. Attleboro, Mass.) who represented the Seahawks on two sports (women's basketball and women's lacrosse).

The first-ever McAuley Cup was given in honor of Catherine McAuley, founder of the Sisters of Mercy - who founded Salve Regina, to the 2017-18 Salve Regina men's ice hockey team.

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University director of athletics Jody Mooradian bestowed dozens of awards to student-athletes and staff on Friday evening, including the department's female and male athletes of the year - senior Amber Cody (Pawling, N.Y.) of field hockey, and junior Blake Wojtala (Trenton, Mich.) of men's ice hockey.

Western New England stops Salve Regina, 64-49

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Fourth-seeded Western New England University outscored fifth-seeded Salve Regina University by a combined 20 points in the second and third quarters on its way to a 64-49 victory over the Seahawks in the quarterfinal round of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Women's Basketball Tournament on Tuesday night at the Alumni Healthful Living Center.

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University women's basketball avenged an early season loss against Gordon College as the Seahawks defeated the Scots, 53-44, to close out the regular season and clinch the No. 5 seed in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) playoffs at the Rodgers Recreation Center.
