CCC Player of the Week: Meaghan Harden
NEWPORT, R.I. - For the second consecutive week with the start of the season, the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has selected Salve Regina University junior guard Meaghan Harden (Sandwich, Mass.) as its Player of the Week for women's basketball (Nov. 17-23).
Meaghan Harden leads all Division III players in the nation (after clicking link, click "indivdual" tab) with a 29.5 scoring average. Her 45-point performance against Regis (Nov. 15) is also a season-best for any player.
Player of the Week - Harden continued her impressive play averaging 29.5 points, 15.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game as the Seahawks went 2-0 on the week. In a 54-44 victory at Johnson & Wales, Harden posted a double-double of 23 points and 16 rebounds while dishing out four assists. Her best performance came in a 61-54 triumph over Middlebury in which she posted 36 points and 15 rebounds. For the week, Harden shot 47% (15-of-32) from the field and 89% (25-of-28) from the charity stripe.
Harden set a school record with her 13-for-13 performance at the charity stripe against the Panthers.
The Seahawks (3-1) host the Corsairs of UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday (5:30 p.m.); live stats and live video featuring audio commentary from Christian Lawber and Andrew Pezzelli available on the school's athletics website. After Thanksgiving, Salve Regina travels to Brunswick, Maine, to face the Polar Bears of Bowdoin College on Saturday (2 p.m.).
