Tale of the Tape - Salve Regina v. Roger Williams

SALVE REGINA VS. ROGER WILLIAMS
  • Salve Regina leads, 46-12, in a series that began in 1984.
  • Roger Williams swept last year's regular-season meetings, and won an earlier meeting this season with the Seahawks in December. But Salve Regina's only win in the last five meetings came in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) semifinal at Bristol last February (69-48). Meaghan Harden scored a career-high 30 points as Salve Regina advanced to its third-straight conference championship game. Brianna Del Valle posted a double-double (21 points, 12 rebounds).
  • After Del Valle's layup gave Salve Regina a 28-27 halftime lead in Bristol on December 7, 2013, Ari Renwick's layup at 13:46 in the second half put Roger Williams ahead, 39-38, and the Hawks expanded their lead to 17 points on back-to-back 3-pointers from Kaitlyn Bovee (at 4:17 and 3:43).
  • Salve Regina has held an opponent to 30 points or less 17 times; three times the opponent was Roger Williams including the last Seahawks' win over the Hawks at the Rodgers Recreation Center, 61-30, on January 21, 2012.
LAST TIME OUT - SALVE REGINA 49, WESTERN NEW ENGLAND 34 - JANUARY 23, 2014
  • Marissa Pendergast posted her team-leading seventh double-double (10 points, 15 rebounds) to lead the Seahawks to a 49-34 win over visiting Western New England University.
  • Meaghan Harden led all scorers with 13 points.
LAST TIME OUT -  ROGER WILLIAMS 66, GORDON 53 - JANUARY 22, 2014
  • Kaitlyn Bovee scored 14 second-half points and 21 for the game to lead all scorers. Her triple with 6:39 left in regulation spurred the Hawks on an 11-0 run to break open the game and Gordon was not able to get the game back within 10 points.
  • Roger Williams received points from 11 different sources, but only Bovee and Ari Renwick managed to get over the 10-point hurdle. Renwick, a senior, added 11 points and four assists at guard in 34 minutes of playing time.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS
  • Bovee set a new school record for career points (1,377) as the Hawks defeated the University of New England 80-59 (last Saturday) and snapped an eight-game win streak for the Nor'easters. The 21-point victory also ended UNE's 32-game regular-season win streak versus CCC competition. Bovee recorded a double-double against UNE as she netted a game-high 22 points and 13 rebounds.
  • Roger Williams ranks first among CCC schools in scoring offense (68.0 ppg) and field goal percentage (41.4%).
