FARMINGTON, Maine - Salve Regina University got 16 points each from Meaghan Harden (Sandwich, Mass.) and Marissa Pendergast (Medfield, Mass.) on its way to a 72-52 win over Fisher College, in Saturday afternoon's Dunkin' Donuts UMaine-Farmington Tip-Off Tournament consolation game.
Fisher's Javana Bernard tallied 20 points on 8-of-22 shooting from the field, while Alexis Akridge and Breanna Brown netted 13 and 12 points respectively.
Both Bernard and Harden were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Salve Regina (1-1) had a double-digit lead, 16-6, by the 15-minute mark of the first half, and briefly held a 20-point lead three times in the first half alone. The Seahawks shot 40.7 percent (24-of-59) from the field, while holding Fisher (1-3) to 29.2 percent shooting.
Freshman Jillian Woodward (Orono, Maine) came off the bench to provide 11 points in front of her local fans.
The Seahawks capitalized on the Falcons' 20 fouls with a 23-of-29 effort at the charity stripe.
Salve Regina faces Westfield State in a non-conference matchup on Saturday, Nov. 23, while Fisher will face Gordon College on Thursday, Nov. 21.
