Seahawks split with two local teams in Winter Haven, Fla.

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - Salve Regina University sophomore Andi Nelson (Candia, N.H.) pitched a complete-game victory, 4-2, over Wheaton College at the Polk State College DiamondPlex in Winter Haven, Fla., before another New England school, Plymouth State University, scored four unanswered runs in its last two at bats and had a 7-3 decision in the final game of the day.

Junior infielder Maddie Machado (Westport, Mass.) added an insurance run with a double in the top of the seventh against the Lyons that plated senior outfielder Lindsey Florent (New Bedford, Mass.).

Florent launched her first career homerun in the first inning of the meeting with the Panthers, after Plymouth State had taken a 3-0 lead in the top of the frame on a three-run blast by Mel Goss. Florent also doubled twice and scored the tying run in the third inning.

The Seahawks (2-4) return to out-of-region competition when they face Arcadia University (Pa.) and Washington College (Md.) in Kissimmee, Fla., at the Fortune Road Athletic Complex.
