Summary
NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University softball honored its four seniors - Kelsey Boarman (No. Dighton, Mass.), Nikki Bukovsky (Westport, Conn.), Kara O'Riley (Acton, Mass.), and Lexi Soucie (No. Easton, Mass.) - before sweeping a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) doubleheader with Nichols College (7-2 and 6-2) at Toppa Field.

Kristen Hickey (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) cracked two doubles and drove in a pair of runs in the opener behind the pitching of Boarman who scattered seven hits and allowed just two runs, improving her record to 6-3 on the season.

In the second game, Amanda Riley (Barrington, N.H.) went three-for-three with a solo homer, her second of the season, to support the five-hit pitching of freshman Kaleigh Dwyer (East Brunswick, N.J.) who improved to 2-4 on the season.

The Seahawks own a 35-17-1 mark in the all-time series which includes wins in the last seven meetings, 11 of the last 12, and 17 of the last 19.

Three Seahawk Stars of the Day

  1. Junior infielder Kristen Hickey (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) collected three hits and three RBI on the day including a pair of doubles in the opener. She added a sacrifice fly in game two.
  2. Sophomore infielder Amanda Riley (Barrington, N.H.) started as the designated player in game two and banged out three hits including her second home run of the season, a solo shot to center in the third.
  3. Junior infielder Francesca Galeazzi (Lynn, Mass.) reached base five times on three singles and two walks. She stole four bases and scored two runs.

Salve Regina stole a dozen bases in the sweep, six in each game.
