SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has selected Salve Regina University freshman third baseman Kara O'Riley (Acton, Mass.) as its Rookie of the Week, and freshman right-hander Kelsey Boarman (No. Dighton, Mass.) as its Pitcher of the Week for softball (April 21-27).

Pitcher of the Week - Boarman came up big in her final CCC regular-season start of the year, spinning a four-hit shutout in the Seahawks' 1-0 victory over first-place Endicott in the second half of a doubleheader. In her first collegiate complete-game shutout, Boarman struck out seven and did not walk a batter. The rookie also earned another victory in a 10-1 defeat of MIT, allowing just one earned run on four hits in four innings of work, while fanning four. In 11 total innings of work, Boarman went 2-0 with a 0.64 ERA, allowing eight hits, no walks and striking out seven.

Rookie of the Week - O'Riley batted .500 (5-for-10) with one double, two RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base in four games last week. After collecting a pair of hits in a 3-1 loss in the first game of a split with CCC leader Endicott, O'Riley came up big in Salve's 1-0 victory in the nightcap, driving in the game's only run with two outs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Later in the week, O'Riley had two hits, two runs scored and an RBI in a sweep of MIT.

Salve regina (19-15; 14-4 CCC) earned the number two seed in the conference's postseason and will host a double-elimination round with Curry College and Roger Williams University at Toppa Field on Tuesday.
