CCC Pitcher of the Week: Nicole Parry

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has selected Salve Regina University sophomore Nicole Parry (Quincy, Mass.) as its Pitcher of the Week for softball (March 24-30).

Pitcher of the Week - Parry threw a complete-game five-hitter against University of New England on Saturday at Toppa Field in the first of two for the Seahawks-Nor'easters. Salve Regina won, 8-2, in the opener as Parry allowed just one earned run while striking out three Nor'easter batters.

"Parry and (catcher Genevieve) Benoit did a great job keeping hitters off balance and making necessary adjustments thought out the game," said first-year Seahawk head coach Jessica DePolito. "Also,  we came up with a lot of big plays defensively that helped leave runners on base."

The Seahawks (3-9; 1-1 CCC) had gone 16 days since their last games in Florida. Parry pitched the Seahawks to a season-opening win (13-2) against Houghton College on March 8. It was the first collegiate pitching appearance for the second-year right-hander who struck out 12 Highlanders in the victory.

Salve Regina has re-scheduled its postponed doubleheaders with Endicott College (3/28 to 4/11 - home) and at Wentworth Institute of Technology (3/30 to 4/3 - away).
