BOSTON, Mass. - Looking to defend last year's title of champions of the BU Trophy, Salve Regina sailors headed to Boston to compete on the waters of the Charles River.

With shifty winds and pouring rain making for challenging racing, JP Silvestri and Angelina Todaro were not rattled and finished in first place in their division. The sophomore duo finished in the top three in six of their 10 races, securing first place by eight points over runner up Boston College.

Starting off strong on Sunday with two first-place finishes and two second-place finishes, they catapulted the team from ninth to sixth in the overall standings. Along with captain Bob Lippincott and Kaylen Heath, the team finished ahead of the home team Boston University and notably, ahead of Harvard, Brown and Tufts.

"We came into the weekend knowing we could do well," commented head coach John Ingalls. "We saw this as a training event to work on a few areas that needed help. Of course, I'm happy with how our team did, but at this point it's all practice towards our goal of going back to the national championships."

Heading into their final month of the spring season, the Seahawks will race at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy on April 5-6.
