Seahawks tackle trails at Battle of the North Shore

WENHAM, Mass. (August 31, 2019) -- Junior captain Aidan Lynch (Little Silver, N.J.) and senior Brett Jutras (East Bridgewater, Mass.) led Salve Regina into the Battle of the North Shore at Gordon College on Saturday, keying the scoring in head-to-head competition with two Commonwealth Coast Conference rivals.

Lynch traversed the 5,000-meter grass, road and trail course in 17 minutes, 41 seconds, finishing seventh overall in the combined field of 36 runners. Jutras was not far behind at 18:06, crossing the finish line tenth overall.

Senior Tanner Owens (Long Beach, N.Y.) ran in the No. 3 spot in his debut for Salve Regina. It was the first race since high school for the former basketball player, who transferred to Salve Regina from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. He crossed the finish line at 18:48.

Senior Riley Rancourt (Warren, R.I.) and senior captain Chandler Da Cruz (Middletown, R.I.) rounded out the scoring for the Seahawks, finishing at 19:14 and 20:08 respectively. Graduate student Brendan Clancey (Middletown, R.I.) and senior Brendan Kelly (Lynbrook, N.Y.) ran in the sixth and seventh spots.

Endicott College emerged victorious from the third running of the Battle of the North Shore, claiming dual meet wins over Salve Regina and Gordon College. Endicott topped Gordon, 20-35, and Salve Regina, 15-42. The Fighting Scots managed a split in dual meet scoring, earning a 21-38 victory over Salve Regina. Evan Page of Gordon was the individual winner, finishing at 16:58.
