Seahawks sweep Lynx, 9-0

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Salve Regina University men's tennis team won its second straight match, scoring a 9-0 decision against non-conference Lesley University in Cambridge, Mass., on Monday evening. The Lynx drop to 2-3 on the season while the Seahawks climb back to .500 improving to 3-3.

Salve Regina came out of the gate strong with a sweep of doubles. Junior Will Masse (Wyoming, R.I.) and first year Aaron White (Falmouth, Mass.) led the way with an 8-0 shut-out of second singles. Sophomore Zach Monahan (Stoughton, Mass.) and first year Dante Petrosino (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.) took third singles, 8-1. Lesley first years Patrick Corcoran (West Hartford, Conn.) and Beowulf Urban (Blue Hills, Maine) battled Kevin Brocks (Albany, N.Y.) and D.J. Bisaillon in first doubles before falling 8-2.

In the singles portion of the competition, Lesley sophomore Adam Valladares (Middleton, N.H.) fought valiantly in sixth singles taking Petrosino to eight games in two sets However, Petrosino was able to hold on for the 6-2, 6-2 victory. Bisaillon was able to take second singles from the reigning New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week, Urban, in two sets, 6-2, 6-0.

Third singles was tough battle between White and Corcoran. Corcoran never gave in throughout the entire match but White was able to pull out the 6-2, 6-1 victory.
