NEWPORT, R.I. –  Johnson & Wales University men's tennis defeated Salve Regina University,8-1, during a combined match with the Seahawk-Wildcat women's teams. The day included 18 matches on the six courts.

Seniors Nicholas Auffret (Holtsville, N.Y.) and Andre Barbaro (Brielle, N.J.) finished a close eight-game pro-set at first doubles winning the final four games for an 8-4 decision.

Barbaro completed a two-point effort for the day with a straight-set win at first singles against D.J. Bisaillon (Watertown, Conn.), but Salve Regina's Will Masse (Wyoming, R.I.) spoiled the Wildcats' shutout bid with a three-set triumph at second singles over Auffret.

"What tremendous energy today! It was so fun to see all the parents, student fans, and staff come out to support the team. It was rewarding to look around the courts and see how everyone's game has improved. There is still work to be done but it's nice to see when the hard work pays off. Go Seahawks!" - Seahawk head coach Peter Torgrimson
