Seahawks open with a loss to Pride

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University men's tennis was blanked in its first match of the 2013-14 season, 9-0, by the visiting Regis College squad.

The non-league victory for the Pride improved their record to 3-5 while Salve Regina will take its 0-1 mark into its next match versus Johnson & Wales University on Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Seahawks' conference opener at Gordon College has been postponed for Saturday; no re-schedule has been announced.

Salve Regina's starters in doubles (three returners, three newcomers) also comprised the six singles positions. Sophomore Khoa Nguyen (Haverhill, Mass.) took Jeremy Morgenbesser (Bayport, N.Y.) to three sets before the freshman from Regis won the final set in a tiebreak.
