Medeiros, MacDonald, Kelly named captains for men's soccer

NEWPORT, R.I. (June 24, 2019) -- Salve Regina University men's soccer head coach Craig O'Rourke II has named three captains for 2019 - seniors Noah Medeiros (Dartmouth, Mass.), Evan MacDonald (Candia, N.H.), and junior Casey Kelly (Waldwick, N.J.).

"Each of these young men has distinguished themselves over their careers at Salve Regina, and epitomizes some aspect of leadership for our program," says the 13th-year head coach. "Noah is the returning two-time captain who takes charge of all behind-the-scenes logistics that keep our program moving forward. Evan is the focal point of our possession-based offense, who pulls the necessary strings for us on the field. And Casey is the rising junior whose work ethic, athleticism, and selfless commitment to the program has already started to be recognized. Collectively, these young men will lead our team this fall into what should be another highly competitive season within the Commonwealth Coast Conference."

Coach O'Rourke's team finished undefeated in the regular season in 2018 before eventual conference champion Gordon College eliminated the Seahawks in the tournament semifinals. Kelly, MacDonald, and Medeiros will join their teammates for the start of pre-season in Newport on Friday, August 16.
