Elster earns CoSIDA Academic All-District® recognition

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University men's soccer senior Jordan Elster (Sutton, Mass.) earned a selection to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) All-District® Team.

Elster, recently honored as the Senior Scholar Athlete in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), now advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot where first, second and third team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

Last year, Elster was named Scholar All-East Region and then later Scholar All-American by the United Soccer Coaches association. For his career, Elster played in 70 matches, started 60, scored two goals and assisted on eight, three-time CCC All-Academic Team, and two-time All-CCC First Team (2017, 2018).

Salve Regina head coach Craig O'Rourke II and the Seahawks had their finest regular season ever with a 15-0-3 record (6-0-2 CCC) before going 1-1 in postseason action.

"(With) the commitment and dedication that Jordan has displayed in the classroom, in the gym, and on the field, he keeps raising the bar and winning these types of awards," says O'Rourke. "He is just the absolute epitome of academic and athletic excellence. He is quite simply the best true 'student-athlete' that we have and it's going to be a momentous task to replace everything that he has done for our program when he graduates this spring."

Elster advances to the national ballot for the first time, and joins Joseph Pate '16 as the only other Seahawk men's soccer player to earn CoSIDA All-District® Team honors.
